Una reggia nel verde, con settecento stanze, voluta nel 1777 da Ferdinando d’Asburgo come residenza di campagna, la Villa Reale di Monza è tra le meraviglie realizzate da Piermarini.
La facciata neoclassica della Villa è nota a runner, ciclisti, famiglie con bambini. Più segreto ma non meno famoso è invece il roseto che dal 1965, in virtù di un concorso che ha avuto come madrina anche Rita Levi Montalcini, richiama botanici da tutto il mondo.
Vicino di casa del Parco, espressione di un altro tipo di ebbrezza, è l’Autodromo Nazionale Monza, dal 1922 tempio della Formula 1. Durante l’anno ospita anche corsi di guida sportiva. Custode di arte e storia è invece il Duomo, voluto dalla regina longobarda Teodolinda. Tra i suoi tesori unici, la Corona Ferrea simbolo del potere regale, custodita nella preziosa Cappella.
A breve distanza la nuova sede dei Musei Civici di Monza con 140 opere che raccontano la storia della città. Fuori porta, basta seguire il corso del Lambro, ideale in bicicletta, per incontrare piccoli centri dell’operosa e ondulata Brianza: Macherio, Carate, Arosio e Inverigo che invitano a scoprire più a nord le Prealpi Comasche.

A palace in the green, with 18th century halls, commissioned in 1777 by Ferdinand I as a countryside estate. Monza’s Villa Reale is Piermarini’s marvelous masterpiece.
The Neoclassical façade of the Villa is well-known to runners, cyclists, and families alike. As a not so hidden secret, the rose garden situated at the Villa’s entrance has enchanted visitors since its opening in 1965.
Near the Park, the excitement is palpable in the Autodromo Nazionale Monza, the Formula 1’s “Temple of Speed” since 1922. Throughout the year, sporting events are held even in the off-season. Meanwhile, a tried-and-true treasure sits in the beating heart of the city. The Duomo is the guardian of art and history, wanted by the Longobard Teodolinda. Among its unique treasures, the Iron Crown symbol of royal power, kept in the precious Chapel.
A short distance away the new seat of the Civic Museums of Monza with 140 works that tell the story of the city. Outside the city limits, follow the Lambro River by bike to the small towns of Brianza, like Macherio, Carate, Arosio, and Inverigo, which take you further north towards Como’s alpine foothills.
