The first regional Park in Italy celebrates its fiftieth anniversary in 2024, safeguarding the Ticino River and the many natural environments of its valley. The Authority managing the park, comprising three provinces and 47 municipalities, oversees a territory of approximately 92 thousand hectares and applies a system of different protection levels for natural, agricultural, and urban areas. The aim is to balance environmental preservation with the social and economic needs of the numerous communities in the area, also through territorial promotion.
