VISIT MOLISE WITH MOLITOUR

Molitour Incoming Tour Operator, Tour Operator of Molise, offers a wonderful but still not well known territory, which we like to define as "a small treasurechest full of great beauties".

Actually, an increasing number of tourists is discovering the extraordinary historical, archaeological and environmental heritage of Molise Region.

Through a careful organization and networking of local tourist services, Molitour Incoming Tour Operator offers, in collaboration with national and international Tour Operators, holiday packages, shopping tours, tours and day trips linked to the distinctive features of the territory as historical, archaeological and environmental assests and scholastic, experiential, VFR travels, religious and third-age tourism.

Some examples of the extraordinary resources of the territory of Molise are:

the National Museum of Paleolithic of Isernia (the oldest human camp in Europe); the archaeological site of "Altilia" and the many Samnite and Roman evidences; Isernia (which boasts of being the first capital of Italy in 90 BC, after Lega Italica was set up), the Abbey of San Vincenzo al Volturno (one of the largest early medieval monasteries in west Europe); the Teatro Italico of Pietrabbondante (IS) (II -I century BC) ; the many medieval villages of the region (some of them are also included in the italian association of "I Borghi Più Belli d'Italia") ; the Minor Basilica of Our Lady of Sorrow in Castelpetroso and the many churches you can find and visit all over Molise ; museums ; the Pandone Castle in Venafro and the Monforte Castle in Campobasso besides the approximately two hundred castles and strongholds you can find everywhere in the region ; "Tratturi" (recently included by Unesco in the intangible heritage of humanity) ; The coast with its 35 km of low and sandy coastline; the National Park of Abruzzo, Lazio and Molise and the stunning mountains of Matese and Mainarde ; MAB (Man And Biosphere of Unesco) Natural Reserve of Collemeluccio and Monte di Mezzo ; lakes and wonderful waterfalls ; the millenary bells produced in Agnone ; scissors and knives making in Frosolone ; the typical bagpipes of Scapoli ; the ''Tombolo'' of Isernia and handicrafts in general.

The strategic geographical position of Molise is the strong point of the holiday packages we offer, since Molise is very close to the sea (both Adriatic and Tyrrhenian sea) and the mountains (Capracotta, Campitello Matese and Roccaraso). It's not far from the largest cities of south Italy (Rome and Naples and their airports), Vatican City (St. Peter's Basilica), San Giovanni Rotondo (San Pio of Pietrelcina and Apulia) and  the archaeological sites of Pompeii and Herculaneum.

Our tourist packages also include food and wine tours on the territory (the great wine of Molise lowlands, cheese and typical salami of the highlands, the truffle and the white onion of Isernia, etc) and we promote events related to arts and local traditions (such as the ''Misteri'' of Campobasso, the Carresi of San Martino in Pensilis, the ''Uomo Cervo'' and the other zoomorphic masks of carnival time, the ''Faglia'' of Oratino, <'Ndocciata> of Agnone and  various theatre plays, concerts and events organized by Fondazione Molise Cultura).

Landscapes lovers can also experience the historical train of the Carpinone-Sulmona railway, nicknamed the trans-Siberian of Italy.

It is not an eat and go tourism, but a targeted, aware, well organized, slow tourism that pays special attention to art, history, nature and genuinly tasty italian cuisine. We can proudly boast of having an high quality level of packages and a good information and assistance service : before, during and after the stay in Molise.
