Eretta sulle vestigia del’antico tempo cristiano-longobardo dedicato a S.Michele, questa chiesa, più volte ricostruita a partire dal secolo XIII, conserva il corpo dell’omonima santa, monaca benedettina, morta a Cingoli nel 1276, compatrona, con sant’ Esuperanzio e san Bonfilio, della città. Gli ultimi restauri, eseguiti in occasione del VII centenario della morte di S. Sperandia hanno portato all’apertura al pubblico della camera della Santa.
Erected on the ruins of the old Christian-Lombard temple dedicated to St. Mi- chael, this church was rebuilt several times as from the beginning of the XIII century; it houses the body of St. Sperandia, a Benedictine nun who died in Cin- goli in 1276, and who, together with St. Esuperanzio and St. Bonfilio, is the local patron saint. Restoration work was last carried out for the 700th anniversary of St. Sperandia’s death, and marked the opening of the Saint’s cell to the public.
