1°day: Cecina/Bibbona - Parco di Rimigliano - Parco Archeologico di Baratti e Populonia Cecina/Bibbona 90km

Hotel accommodation *** and departure for a beautiful guided trekking experience in the Natural Coastal Park of Rimigliano, a green strip of nearly 6 km overlooking the sea framed by the original Mediterranean vegetation, full of oaks and pines protected from the sea winds by a sandy dune system (average height 5 meters with sporadic peaks of 10 meters). All tracks are beaten and marked, the area is equipped with showers and toilets, on the horizon the unmistakable silhouettes of the islands of the Tuscan archipelago.

1PM Lunch in a typical restaurant with traditional Tuscan dishes (drinks not included)

After lunch, a guided visit to the Archaeological Park of Baratti and Populonia where we will visit the Etruscan necropolis of San Cerbone. They consist of several sites dating back to different times of Etruscan history and were discovered under meters of iron slags, metal imported from the nearby island of Elba and worked in Populonia since the second millennium BC. In the necropolis you can also see three different types of graves. Then you visit the Acropolis or the Caves

Return to the hotel - Dinner – Overnight stay

2° day: Cecina/Bibbona –- Parco Minerario di San Silvestro-  Campiglia Marittima- Cecina/Bibbona 80km – 

Breakfast and transfer to the Mining Park of San Silvestro. In this fascinating journey through time you can discover Etruscan finds, mines, wells, tunnels and caves. The tour starts at the Museum of Archaeology and Minerals and continues with the support of an experienced guide along the 360 meters of the Miniera del Temperino (Mine of Sharpener) to discover an unusual underground world. We follow visiting the  Earle Well, where the installations of mining machinery and miners life are and we reach the railway station to catch the train that will take us inside the Lanzi-Temperinotunnel, retracing the route of the minerals. In the background you can see the remains of the Rocca di San Silvestro castle, a fortified village of the tenth century.

1PM we will have lunch in the medieval village of Campiglia Marittima - 

Lunch at one of the workshops where we will taste, among other delicacies, the typical crushing campigliese, a crunchy cake served with a glass of white wine strictly coming from the surrounding vineyards. (Drinks not included)

In the afternoon free visit to the charming historical centre of Campiglia accessible by three impressive entrance doors. Inside the walls you overlook craft shops, museums and narrow streets and squares that will make you turn back in time.

Return to the hotel - Dinner – Overnight stay

3° day: Cecina/Bibbona – Suvereto – parco Naturale di Montioni – Cecina/Bibbona 90km

Breakfast, check-out and departure to Suvereto, considered one of the most beautiful medieval villages in Italy dating back to year 1000. The town encloses in its ancient walls paved alleys that are overlooked by stone houses, historic buildings, suggestive churches with shady cloisters. 

Also known for the millenary tradition of wine, Suvereto produce the Vermentino wine from a grape typical of this area. There is also a wealth of craftsmanship, especially that of iron and wood. 

Very unique and interesting: the Dolls Museum.

1PM lunch in a typical taverna where you will be able to taste the "Crogiantina" (actually a bruschetta) with local olive oil.

In the afternoon guided tour at Montioni Natural Park which covers approximately 7000 hectares and falls within the territory of five municipalities (Suvereto, Campiglia, Piombino, Massa M.ma and Follonica). The park encompasses an impressive natural heritage which remains closely linked to human action for the production of coal and the extraction of alum (used for tanning and to fixi colors on fabrics). In addition the mining village of Montioni was born from the desire of Elisa Bonaparte, Napoleon's sister.

Of great interest is the wildlife park, home to a large number of hoofed animals living in the wild; wild boars, fallow deer and roe deer.

Return to Cecina/Bibbona in the late afternoon - End of the Journey
