Starting from Alba, the one-hundred tower Langhe capital and unrivalled white truffle reference location, the trail winds its way along Tanaro river and up towards calanchi (gullies), to enjoy the Alps arc and to reach the heart of the land where Publius Helvius Pertinax, the Ancient Roman Emperor, was born.

Up toward Nebbiolo vineyards, from which Barbaresco DOCG wine is produced, the trail gets to Barbaresco, a tiny village overlooked by Barbara tower, and then stretches out to Neive, through vineyards and hazelnut trees. Neive is a small gem - rich in both history and legends, it has been listed among the 100 most beautiful villages in Italy.
