This magnificent 6 days and 5 nights tour is a journey into the history of Palermo in the 19th and 20th centuries and in the memory of the Florio family, protagonists of the economic, industrial and political events and evolutions of Sicily from the revolutionary uprisings to the landing of Garibaldi in Marsala and annexation to the Kingdom of Italy until.

ITINERARY: Palermo - Trapani - Marsala - Favignana

1st day: Palermo

Arrival in Palermo (by plane, by train, by ship), transfer to the hotel and any time available. 18:00 meeting at the hotel with our guide, welcome cocktail, dinner and overnight stay

2nd day: Palermo

After breakfast, meeting with our guide and departure to visit the places where the Florio family lived. We will begin with a walk along the streets frequented by the two brothers Ignazio and Paolo who, together with the latter's wife Giuseppina Saffiotti, their son Vincenzo and niece Vittoria had arrived from Bagnara Calabra in 1799. We will start from the Castello a mare in the port of Palermo, where the Florios landed with their crap. From here we will walk along via dei Cassari and via dei Materassai, where they lived for a long time. Our guide will show us the little streets of the aromatherapy pit from where they started their activities. A few steps away we will visit the Vucciria Market, famous together with that of Ballarò for the new way of buying typical food with little change to consume it on the street (street food).

After free lunch we will visit the Palazzina Florio, built by Basile in the Art Nouveau style better defined in Sicily, Liberty style and to follow the magnificent Teatro Massimo inaugurated in 1897, second only to the Paris Opera in size. In the evening, return to the hotel, dinner and overnight.

3rd Day: Palermo - Trapani

After breakfast, meeting with our guide and departure for Arenella where we will visit the Tonnara and the Palazzo dei Quattro Pizzi that Vincenzo built after the birth of his heir Ignazio shortly after his marriage to Giulia Portalupi and where he died. Lunch in a restaurant. In the afternoon we will leave for Trapani. Arrival at the hotel, accommodation in the reserved rooms, dinner and overnight stay

4th Day: Trapani - Marsala - Trapani

After breakfast at the hotel, departure for a guided tour of the historic center of Marsala and to follow the famous Florio Cellars. Here our guide will tell us about the link between the land and the sea, the wine and the salt and the birth of the famous Marsala. Wine tasting and lunch in the cellar.

In the afternoon boat ride in the Stagnone Lagoon and visit of the island of Mozia. Return to hotel, dinner and overnight

5th Day: Trapani - Favignana - Trapani

After breakfast, departure for the port of Trapani where we will board the hydrofoil that will take us to the island of Favignana. Approaching the port we will admire the beauty of the sea landscape with a clear and transparent bottom and already from the port we will see the famous Tonnara Florio, a former tuna processing plant in oil.

The guide will tell us about the capture of tuna and their bloody end through the passages with the practice of slaughtering in the different tanks and the various stages of transformation of the same in oil to ensure its conservation. Lunch in a restaurant. Walk through the streets of the seaside village and visit the neo-Gothic and Art Nouveau Palazzo Florio. It was built by Ignazio Florio jr (son of Ignazio and nephew and of Vincenzo) who together with his wife Donna Franca made it the living room of Favignana, organizing parties with friends, including the Tsars of Russia, during the period of slaughter. Return by hydrofoil to Trapani, transfer to the hotel, farewell dinner. Overnight.

6th Day: Marsala - Palermo

Breakfast at the hotel, release of the reserved rooms, transfer to Palermo (airport / port / railway station) and end of the tour.
