Pitcher plants at Maliau Basin? We didn't know we needed washings deep in the forest. 😆 The pitcher plant is a carnivorous plant. Flies, beetles, butterflies, and a variety of other insects frequently find it hard to exit the structure once inside, and as a result, they die in the plant's watery guts. The plant's enzymes digest the meal, which is how the plant absorbs the nutrients.
