Throughout Sicily, looking for handicap accessible beaches as well, to enjoy a beautiful holiday by the sea, with barrier free and high quality reception.

Let’s start from the  Spiaggia Zero Barriere  in San Vito Lo Capo, in the area of  Trapani , a charming seaside town, whose beaches remind of the Caribbean ones because of their white sand and crystal clear water. Sometimes, the sand turns out pink on the shoreline because of the presence of shards of corals.

Here, some proper runways and platforms are available in order to move safely.

You can find special aquatic wheelchairs with rubber wheels (J.O.B.), and a dedicated staff is ready to respond to everyone’s needs.

Thanks to the  project M.I.A. (Sea Integration Accessibility), the major Sicilian seaside resorts have been able to equip their shores and provide a well-organized bathing assistance service.

In Agrigento the public beach is in front of the Holiday Park area.

In Milazzo, in Messina area, the beach La Fenice, run by the Association of the same name, organizes many cultural activities. In the same area, the public beach of Sant’Agata di Militello, lying in Giancola neighborhood,  is provided with a walkway that connects the parking area to the shore, a gazebo and some reserved car parks.

In Capo d’Orlando (Messina) there are several accessible beaches, including the beaches of Piazzetta del  Borgo San Gregorio, Klaxon and Miramare along the Lungomare Andrea Doria

The recently opened beach No Limits-beyond the wall, located along the Lungomare Ligabue (in proximity to  Ciurma della Tartana), provides spaces properly equipped with high sunbeds  and J.O.B. chairs. The admission is free  both for disabled users and  accompanying persons.

In Ragusa and its surroundings there are several accessible beaches, such as Margarita Beach and Laola Beach in Marina di Ragusa, La Capannina, La Duna del Re, the Circolo Velico Anemos in Scoglitti, and last but not least Pietrenere beach in Pozzallo.
