Sarà per la combinazione di montagna, parchi in fiore e fitti boschi. Per le dimore di delizia e i crotti con i pergolati. Da secoli il Lago di Como non smette di sedurre.
L’aria è luminosa, come descritta da Goethe nel suo Grand Tour. Le ville “si moltiplicano sulla verzura, sulle colline e si rispecchiano nelle acque”, come annotava Stendhal. Su un promontorio boscoso che precipita nel blu, Villa del Balbianello, gestita dal FAI, è stata scelta per le riprese di Casino Royale e per le scene d’amore di Star Wars II. Villa Carlotta, a Tremezzo, con il giardino all’italiana originario, è scrigno di capolavori d’arte.
Ci sono poi ville trasformate in grand hotel e dimore divenute buon ritiro di attori hollywoodiani. Interessanti anche le tappe dell’Itinerario Razionalista con case e monumenti progettati dall’architetto Giuseppe Terragni a Como. Il ramo di Lecco è segnato da percorsi di memoria manzoniana. A Colico, il popolo del surf aspetta la Breva o il Tivano, venti lariani portatori di buon tempo.
Poi le salite ai belvedere: Brunate con la funicolare a cremagliera fino ai 700 m di altezza; il Faro Voltiano di San Maurizio con scala a chiocciola di 143 gradini, vista lago ed arco alpino; la funivia Pigra Argegno, per ammirare la parte meridionale del ramo comasco. Panorama d’elezione è quello che si gode dal battello. Tutti punti di vista d’incanto.

Villa Carlotta, in Tremezzo, is no less stunning, with its original Italian garden. The treasure chest of art includes sculptures from Canova and the paintings of Francesco Hayez. Some of the extravagant villas have been transformed into hotels, while others have welcomed a varied list of VIP’s, such as George Clooney. Inland, the wonders of Rationalist architecture are sure to stun.
Numerous projects from Giuseppe Terragni can be admired in Como, while Lecco boasts the Manzonian itineraries. In Colico, the Breva and Tivano winds comes out to play for a bit of surfing. Trails up to the viewpoints are sure to be a favorite of many, like Brunate with its funicular train climbing over 700 meters.
