Le uve Chardonnay, si dice in Franciacorta, rappresentano il lato femminile del vino: impartiscono le note più morbide. Il Pinot Nero è maschile e rigoroso nel gusto.
Questo armonioso regno dello yin e dello yang corrisponde alla conca morenica affacciata al Lago d’Iseo, che un tale dottor Conforti, nel 1500, definì come portatrice di vini mordaci. Nel giugno del 2016, l’artista Christo ha trasformato il territorio, con l’installazione temporanea The Floating Piers, sul Sebino, in un inedito e spettacolare attrattore turistico.
Il vino resta, grande protagonista. Nel terroir del Franciacorta si allevano le vigne manualmente, su terrazzamenti dolcemente inclinati. Paiono vigneti-giardino dove all’improvviso compare una pieve, un campanile. Da scoprire a piedi, in bici e in carrozza, con soste di degustazione di un Franciacorta.
Da mettere in un carnet di buoni indirizzi anche la Riserva Naturale delle Torbiere del Sebino con canneti e torbiere; Monte Isola nel mezzo del Lago, nella bella stagione raggiunta anche da battelli notturni; la pista ciclabile che percorre l’Iseo nella sua parte settentrionale; il cluniacense Monastero di San Pietro in Lamosa. Da non perdere, infine, la degustazione del manzo all’olio di Rovato, la tinca ripiena con la polenta e la sardina essiccata del lago.

Morainic hills and a succession of vineyards-gardens that look to the placid lake. Enchanted landscape for a land of excellent wine, to be discovered and tasted.
Chardonnay grapes, as they say in Franciacorta, represent the feminine side of wine, creating rounded notes. Meanwhile, the masculine Pinot Noir, is strong in flavor.
The perfect harmony hides in the morainic basin overlooking Lake Iseo. It was a certain Doctor Conforti, who in 1500, defined the wines of this area as biting. In June of 2016, the artist Christo brought his visionary concept to the lake, transforming the territory with The Floating Piers, an installation that brought millions to the small area. When the event came to an end, the stunning landscapes and the wines they produce remained, such as the Franciacorta cultivated along the slightly inclined terraces.
Fanning out from the southern coast, what seem like vineyard-gardens are infiltrated by the occasional parish or bell tower. Explore the area by foot, bike, or carrozza, stopping to taste the local Franciacorta. Take note of the gorgeous natural wonders in the Torbiere del Sebino Nature Reserve between the thicket.
Monte Isola, rising from the center of the Lake, can be reached in warm months with a night boat, while cycling paths will take you along the northern coast to the Cistercian Monastery of San Pietro in Lamosa. Get a taste of the Manzo all’Olio of Rovato, the stuffed tench with polenta, or the dried sardines.
