Calabria is a surprising land, full of contrasts and nuances that render it an attractive holiday destination. A peninsula bordered by the sea that after leaving the coast, tourists quickly admire the hinterland with its steep slopes of snow-capped mountains and secular forests.
The Calabrian mountains still preserve areas totally uninhabited and surrounded by nature, rich in typical alpine vegetation and populated by different types of species, which gave life to three national parks and a regional park.
In the heart of Calabria, the Sila National Park offers visitors a fascinating place, full of picturesque routes and exciting landscapes, mountains and enchanted valleys, spectacular plants and a wide variety of animals. The park holds within it a significant wealth of biodiversity that deserves to be loved and protected. The park also offers a well-equipped ski resort, a popular destination for winter tourism.
Particular landscapes and a spectacular complexity of surroundings render the Pollino National Park the largest and the wildest natural park in Italy, in 2015 it became a UNESCO heritage site. With its large unspoilt areas that vary at different altitudes, the park is able to offer visitors a wide variety of natural environments.
The Aspromonte National Park is characterized by a very jagged territory, from the Tyrrhenian to the Ionian Sea it offers a wide variety of plant species, generating a wide biodiversity, thanks to the favourable climatic conditions.
Between the Aspromonte and the Sila is the Regional Park of the Serre, a protected natural area. The Park is crossed by two long mountain ranges, large forests and waterways with high waterfalls.
