... Come la luce esce dall’ombra, il lupo esce dal bosco." (Mia Canestrini, zoologa) Antico è il legame che nei secoli il borgo di Pretoro, ha intessuto con il superbo predatore. Fu proprio a Pretoro, secondo la leggenda, che San Domenico incontrò un gruppo di persone che rincorrevano disperate un lupo che aveva portato via un bambino, mentre i genitori taglialegna lavoravano nel bosco. Il Santo allora rincorse e raggiunse il lupo e, come San Francesco, gli ordinò con voce ferma di lasciar andare la sua preda e l'animale al suono della sua voce restituì, incolume, il bambino. Come in un teatro di corte, gli attori che vi partecipano sono solo uomini e si tramandano il ruolo di padre in figlio (Silvino Filoso, marito, Vincenzo Di Felice, moglie e Luca Pellegrini, lupo). Il bimbo è l'ultimo nato nel mese di febbraio in paese o nei paesi limitrofi. (Mia Canestrini, zoologist). Ancient is the bond that the village of Pretoro has created, over the centuries, with the superb predator. According to legend, it was precisely in Pretoro that San Domenico met a group of people who were desperately chasing a wolf that had carried off a child while the woodcutter parents were working in the forest. The Saint then chased and reached the wolf and, like Saint Francis, ordered him, with a firm voice, to let go of his prey. The animal, at the sound of his voice, returned the child unharmed. As in a court theatre, the actors involved are only men and they hand down the role from father to son (Silvino Filoso, husband; Vincenzo Di Felice wife; Luca Pellegrini, wolf). The baby is the last one born in the month of February in Pretoro or in the neighbouring villages.
