This excursion departs from Perticara, located in Rimini’s backcountry, and arrives in Talamello passing through the outline of the so-called “lying down Giant”, from where it’s possible to enjoy a breathtaking panorama. A chestnut wood will be crossed: here the trees grow, in the right season, the Pincio’s Marroni, a fine chestnut quality typical of the High Marecchia valley and listed in the National Traditional Products List. The walk will end in Talamello, known for the production of the excellent Fossa cheese, nicknamed Talamello’s amber by the local artist Tonino Guerra.
Here, it’s recommended to take advantage of the closeness with the interesting Sulphur Museum, rising right where there was one of the entrances to the biggest European sulfur mines (and one of the biggest in the world). Here it’s possible to see a very rich exhibition of minerals and many antiques. It will also be possible to realize what the hard life of the miners was like.
