WEEKEND BETWEEN HISTORY AND TASTE IN LOWER MOLISE

DAY 1 - LARINO

Arrival in the afternoon in Larino, a wonderful town, filled with history. Check-in at the resort. We will explore the Palazzo Ducale, which houses the Museo Civico, the 13th-century Duomo San Pardo, the Roman amphitheatre and the spa complex, all accompanied by a cantor who will make this a unique and unforgettable experience.

Check-in at the resort, dinner and overnight stay. 

DAY 2 - CASACALENDA - GUARDIALFIERA

Breakfast at the resort. Departure for Casacalenda for a guided visit to a local cheese factory where it will be possible to witness some of the processing phases. Followed by a cheese tasting.

Stroll through the charming village to discover the works of Maack, the Kalenarte open-air museum of contemporary art, and the beautiful churches.

We will then move on to Guardialfiera, a small village on a hill overlooking the lake. Before going up and enjoying the view from above, we will take a short walk on the shores of 'Lago del Liscione', whose waters conceal ancient ruins of Angevin-era arches visible at low tide.

After lunch, we will visit the Cattedrale di Santa Maria Assunta, probably dating back to the 11th century and housing one of the few Holy Doors outside Rome, which is opened once a year during the feast of San Gaudenzio, the city's patron saint. We then visit the mystical early Christian crypt, which shows traces of medieval frescoes on some walls. Lastly, photo opportunity at the belvedere admiring the beautiful lake.

Afterwards, we will go back to the resort for dinner, and overnight stay.

DAY 3 - TERMOLI - LARINO

Breakfast at the resort and departure for Termoli. Visit to this enchanting Borgo Marinaro, surrounded by ancient walls overlooking the sea, and containing priceless treasures, such as Castello Svevo.the narrow alleyways, and the Cattedrale di Santa Maria della Purificazione. Visit to underground Termoli with the Cathedral and the Crypt.

At the end of the tour, we will return to Larino. Guided tour of the resort' vineyard and cellar to discover the specificities of Molise's indigenous 'Tintilia' grape variety. Followed by a typical lunch with tasting of five glasses of wine.

After lunch, our trip will end and we will return home.
