Peasant civilization of a time gone by

Reenactment of family and rural daily life testimonies of agricultural product processing activities.

The desire to preserve the testimonies and values of peasant civilization, led to the recovery of the Rural Building with adjoining basin and fountain ("P.S.R. 2007/2013 - Measure 3.2.3 Protection and Redevelopment of Rural Heritage, Action B Redevelopment Interventions of Historical-Cultural Heritage of great value as defined in art. 1, Law 378/2003").

Immersed in the Molise countryside, the farmhouse, the centerpiece of rural daily life in the past, evokes domestic activities by divulging their testimonies.

Through the agricultural objects, the tools of peasant work, of the processing of agri-food products, on display, one can retrace the stages of the rural civilization that made the land its reason for living.

The farmer's tools

On display in the basement of the rural cottage are tools for working the land, chopping wood, weighing and measuring agricultural products, winemaking and harnesses for cows, oxen, mules (collars, yokes).

The space equipped for processing agricultural products

Located in the focal point of the basement is an ancient "Trappeto" olive press used for olive processing. It consists of a circular stone mortar with a millstone in the center, a perforated stone wheel pulled by a mill/axe to grind olives.

In the room adjoining the olive press, a "Torchik with lever," equipment used for pressing olives with weights and counterweights, was relocated at the collecting tank/top of the press. The structures found in the aforementioned rooms enabled the identification and reconstruction of the press used.

The house and the family environment

Testifying to peasant family life is the kitchen with the table, copper casserole dishes, water tub, mortar, dining utensils and the hearth with the cippus holding the cauldron in place. The same room displays fragments of earthenware and pottery found in the surrounding soil.

The bedroom with furnishings, ornaments and trousseau with period embroidery has been reassembled. Prominent are the former toilets. In the "bedroom," what used to be a secret escape route leading to the roof was reopened: a cavity carved into the thickness of the wall with access from a built-in closet. A meticulous reconstruction in which customs and traditions are brought to light.

Walking along the outside walkway, one reaches the place where the farmer made water supplies. Here there is a basin/cistern used for collecting water and nourishing the soil and a fountain where the farmer would refresh and refresh himself after a hard day's work in the fields.

Everything is surrounded by thriving and unspoiled nature, and from here you can observe the soils that still provide good fruits.
