Maack acronym for Museo all’Aperto d’Arte Contemporanea or Open Museum of Contemporary Art Kalenarte is in Casacalenda, Molise. The works from this unique museum are displayed along the communal territory. It is a project of Massimo Palumbo Architect, proposing a new regard of anonymous and neglected places, revealing the relationship between Art and Architecture. The region returns to relate new stories, liberating the poetic force, inherent to the place. Contemporary Art is, at the same time, an instrument and a window on the world and the artists involved are the intermediaries. Born in 1992 the Open Air Museum of Casacalenda, harbours many permanent installations in the communal territory. The museum is arranged within streets, open areas, forests and squares. The exhibition spaces are varied and extend along the region of Casacalenda. Today there are 20 works displayed. For some years the Museum claims the birth of the Civic Gallery of Contemporary Art Libertucci Franco, whose collection consists works, mostly painted on canvas, sculptures and installations

​Creating the museum is the Kalenarte_Maack project aimed at rereading neglected or anonymous places through the lens of the Art-Architecture relationship. Artists are hosted according to the methodology of artist residency so as to obtain a cross-section of the socio-cultural dynamics that characterize the place in which they work. As an offshoot of Maack, the Franco Libertucci Civic Gallery of Contemporary Art, home of the Kalenarte Association, was born in 2007, hosting 114 works donated by artists who have come to know and espouse this project.
