The declaration of the greatness of Kailìa, is confirmed by the discovery of three necropolis dating back to the V-IV° century BC, as tradition has it, within the circuit wall. The first are in the north, under the ground on which it stands today is the “Calamandrei” school, the second is in the south, bordering the current city cemetery.
The findings of the ancient center, preserved in the museums of Bari, Taranto, Naples, Berlin, Saint Petersburg, Boston, and Los Angeles, originate from these necropolises.
