The Seven-Coloured Earth of Chamarel a natural phenomenon that covers an area of 7500 m2 of impressively bare landscape. Once you reach Chamarel, climb up the observation outpost so as to get incredible views of the seven coloured earth. As far as the eyes can see, there are sand dunes in unbelievable colours: yellow, red, brown, violet, purple, green and even blue. The colours evolved through conversion of basaltic lava to clay minerals. The various colours developed due to the different compositions, red, brown, violet, green, blue, purple & yellow. Since the earth was first exposed, rains had carved beautiful patterns into the hillside, creating an effect of earthen meringue, which will amaze you. Chamarel has a coffee place, where European coffee culture meets tropical lifestyle by offering a menu of local cuisine & the real ‘Café de Chamarel’, grown and roasted in Chamarel & commercialized locally & internationally. You will have the privilege to visit the souvenir shop, which has local crafted products for visitors of all ages. Coupled with the above, Chamarel is home to some animal species such as tortoise, peacock and others. The tortoises are from Aldabra in the Seychelles. The latter can reach a length of 1 meter with an average lifespan of more than 150 years. The oldest one is said to have died at the age of 250 years. Come & visit Chamarel, it is worth a visit!
