History, Myths and Legend of Fucino Lake

In the Amphitheater two actors tell the story of Lake Fucino and its drying up twice in the history: by Roman Emperor Claudio and by the entrepreneur Alessandro Torlonia, appointed Prince of Fucino after completing the drainage in 1875, when the lake definitively became land and fishermen became farmers. The story pass through the legends and the myths that have inhabited for centuries the shores of the lake: the snake Pitonium, sleeping in the waters, the goddess Angizia who tames snakes, the Magi Priests Marsi and their wisdom on the use of herbs, the ancient Maiellane wives of the Paladins, the builders of the ancient cyclopean walls of Alba Fucens...
