Landscape and Environment in Italy from Romantic painting to contemporary art

Over 200 works including paintings, photographs, videos and installations show that the interest in and sensitivity for nature and the uncontaminated landscape have been a source of inspiration for generations of artists, from pre-romantic painters of the late eighteenth century to contemporary masters.

Housed in the imposing Citroniera of the Juvarra Stables in the Reggia di Venaria, once a shelter for the citrus plants of the Gardens, the exhibition is divided into twelve sections that follow a chronological and geographical order, intertwining Space and Time, celebrating the Piedmontese region, where the exhibition was conceived, and the whole of Northern Italy, without forgetting the regional schools of Central and Southern Italy.

An exceptional roundup of works by great artists such as Camille Corot, Antonio Fontanesi, Giacomo Balla, Giorgio Morandi, Felice Casorati and many others, loaned by the GAM – the Gallery of Modern and Contemporary Art in Turin – as well as prominent Italian museums and private collections.

At the Reggia di Venaria from 22 June to 1 November.
