Constructed in 1916, the building hosted the offices of the land, taxes and duties where the citizens would go to pay taxes. Its lines recall medieval and Renaissance architectural features, an eclectic combination not unpleasant although sometimes approximate. Around 1926 the building was completed with a tower with simple and three-lights windows. The side of the tower overlooking Piazza XX Settembre was enriched with a marble coat of arms showing the Visconti snake, dating back perhaps to the 14th century, which was once above the main door of the old Customs House. It now hosts temporary exhibitions and the Section of Contemporary Art, of Graphics and Photography of the City Art Gallery, Osservatorio Alpinistico Lecchese and Polo della Montagna, where artifacts and documents belonging to CAI Lecco are collected.
