The winemaking history of the Riccardi family dates back to the late 1800s, when the grapes grown in their own vineyards were vinified in the old vat of the oratory of San Rocco in San Colombano.
In those days, the wine obtained was used for one's own use or bartered with other consumer goods.

At the end of the 40s Franco Riccardi, after leaving the sporting activity that had led him to Olympic glory with 4 golds in sword competitions, decided to transform what until then had been a family passion into an entrepreneurial activity , giving a new image to the product obtained, bottling it and making it known
on the tables of the Milanese. Later he also invented the name and the brand that still identifies the company, inspired by the lines of a poem by Francesco Redi which reads as follows:

"I am the wine that was born from the pleasant hill of the old Mombrione.
With the gold of the sun that I enter bubbles of dreams in sweet flights, I spread my wings.
The poets exalt me in their songs calling me Nectar of the Saints. "

Thus we arrived at the beginning of the 50s, when the first labels of the "Nectar of the Saints" were printed, a simple and drinkable red wine that reflected the typicality of the territory. The Colli di San Colombano, full of history and tradition, needed producers who, becoming aware of them, would render them nobility and importance, bringing to the tables, especially the Milanese and Lodi, wines with exuberant freshness and fragrance and perfume intense.

At the end of the 1960s, after the death of his father, his son Enrico took over the family business and created two important wines that still symbolize the company: the verdea la Tonsa and the Roverone.

In 1980 Enrico Riccardi moved the winery from the center of the town to the top of the hill among the owned vineyards, becoming one of the most fascinating wineries in San Colombano and together with his wife Giovanna he gave great impetus to the business by investing all his energy in the care of the vineyards. and in the refinement of the image.

Today his son Gianenrico, with the same passion and entrepreneurial dynamism, gives continuity to the family wine history by creating quality products in the vineyards, even before the barrels, in absolute respect for the environment and with an eye always turned to quality and to innovation.
