Villa Bernasconi of the Municipality of Cernobbio hosts an innovative museum and is home to cultural events, tourism, civil weddings and other activities.
It is an example of Art Nouveau architecture; it was built in 1906 by the architect Alfredo Campanini upon commission of Davide Bernasconi, owner of the Silk Industry "Tessiture Seriche Bernasconi", open in Cernobbio from the end of the 19th century until the 1970s. He was an enlightened entrepreneur and commissioned the construction, in addition to the production plants, of houses for the workers, villas for the managers, buildings for the administrative offices, a municipal kindergarten (the Bernasconi Kindergarten, still in activity today), constituting a real Industrial Silk Citadel.
Villa Bernasconi is the "house that speaks": through the Museum it tells its own story, the Bernasconi family's and Cernobbio ones, through memories, ancient objects and interactive installations.
