In ancient times, the province of Pavia was the most complex crossroad of Europe, a place of passage for some of the major routes that connected different countries and ruling families. Among these ancient paths, in which the Province and the city of Pavia are protagonists, we have the: Via Francigena, Via degli Abati, Via dei Malaspina, Cammino di San Colombano, Via di San Martino di Tours, Cammino di Sant Agostino, Via delle Gallie, Via Verde della Battaglia and last but not least, Via del Sale.

Finally, another famous path is the Transromanica, a European project that connects routes and destinations that share Romanesque art and history. This represents a real route that takes you along the path of Romanesque history.
