A few kilometers from Matera, on the path of Pietrapenta, near the ravine of Picciano, crossing expanses of land planted with vines and rolling hills, you can visit the Crypt of the Original Sin, one of the most fascinating rock churches in Southern Italy, also known as the "Sistine Chapel of rock wall painting". Originally a natural cave, used as a church in the ninth century, it amazes for the richness and archaic nature of its early medieval frescoes, created by the skilful hand of the "Painter of the Flowers of Matera". The visit is made very suggestive by a system of lights and sounds that cleverly illustrate the entire cycle of frescoes depicting the theme of creation. After this immersion in the mystical world of religious art, we move to Masseria Casal Dragone, the result of the work of five generations of winemakers who offer their guests a rich selection of local products combining the most sought after and characteristic flavors and products of the Lucanian territory with their own wine.
