FIRST DAY 
Arrival in Melfi and visit to the most famous castle in Basilicata whose history is linked to the many prominent figures who have succeeded one another over the centuries in the city located on the slopes of Mount Vulture. 
It is the site where Frederick II promulgated the Constitutions, the first great system of laws of the Kingdom of Sicily and now houses the National Archaeological Museum of Melfi, which houses the important archaeological documentation found in the area, while in the Clock Tower you can appreciate the beautiful Roman sarcophagus, found in 1856, also known as the "Sarcophagus of Rapolla", because once kept in the square of the town of Vulture.
Lunch stop
In the afternoon, move to Lagopesole to admire what is considered the most beautiful of the Frederician castles in Basilicata, even if Frederick II died before seeing the completion of the extension and fortification works. Finished by his son Manfredi, it is situated in a dominant position on the village of Lagopesole. It is a massive rectangular block articulated on two floors and characterized by two courtyards, one major and one minor, and by a tower characterized by an ashlar masonry in the upper part, typical of the Swabian architecture. Inside, it is possible to attend the performance "The World of Frederick II", that is a narrative museum and a multi-image with extraordinary scenic effects that recounts the life of the court at the time of the Swabian Emperor.

SECOND DAY
Breakfast and transfer to Venosa, royal city under Frederick II of Swabia and birthplace in 65 BC of the Latin poet Quinto Orazio Flacco. Guided visit to the historical center and the Aragonese castle or "Castle of Pirro del Balzo" which dates back to 1470 and was built at the behest of Duke Pirro del Balzo. Consisting of four imposing cylindrical towers and the walls that are surrounded by a deep moat, the entrance is accessed by the ancient drawbridge, decorated with lions from the ruins of the ancient Roman city. Today inside the castle is housed the National Archaeological Museum with important finds dating back to Roman times, when Venosa was a Roman colony known as "Venusia". Visit to the Benedictine Abbey of the Trinity, the Cathedral of St. Andrew the Apostle, the Roman amphitheater and the house of Horace.
Lunch stop
In the afternoon visit and tasting of a typical winery in the Vulture area, the heart of the Aglianico del Vulture DOC production area. In the winery it will be possible to visit both the vineyards which give life to excellent wines awarded all over the world, and to observe closely the different processing and aging methods of the finished product.
Dinner and overnight stay in Hotel.
THIRD DAY
Breakfast and transfer to Moliterno where, on the hill of the village, stands the Castle of Moliterno, the fulcrum around which the ancient nucleus of the village rose, contained within the first circle of walls, the Murillo. The oldest element of the castle is the crenellated tower built by the Lombards for the purpose of sighting the Saracens, coming from the eastern passes behind Monte Raparo. After 1000, all the rulers who succeeded in the feud of Moliterno, from the Normans and the Angevins, made extensions by building the current structure of the manor and adding other towers.
The visit continues at the Museo del Novecento Lucano, housed in the first two floors of the beautiful Palazzo Aiello 1825, which collects the best of Lucanian artists of the '900 as Luigi Guerricchio, Mauro Masi, Gaetano Pompa and Italo Squitieri, as well as two "Lucanian" adoption, Carlo Levi and José Ortega.  On the third and fourth floor of the same building there is the Museum of Ceramics of the 1900s. It mainly collects works of the so-called German period of Vietrese Ceramics, with particular attention to the great artists-craftsmen starting from Guido Gambone and the Procida Brothers. 
After the visit, stop in one of the historical places of the old town for a tasting of local products including cheese Canestrato di Moliterno IGP and the famous Peperoni cruschi di Senise IGP.
