The over 65s have free time on their hands, the ability to spend money and a great desire to travel and pursue their passions. According to ISTAT data, pre-Covid tourist spending on accommodation and catering services by Italians in the 'silver' age can be estimated at around 5 billion Euros a year, to which a further 7 billion Euros should be added for recreation, entertainment and culture. No less important is the economic impact of senior foreign tourists, which is worth 5 another billion and is led by Germany, France, the United Kingdom and the United States.
